Though I havent seen that any of the Certs has made a difference in the job prospects... They have been been a great conversation piece though!

This is from a guy that has had a ton of certs over the years, and when it comes down to getting the job or billable rates it seems that they don't make that much of a difference except for the CCIE and that one does make a large difference in billable rates etc. Sure, I look at certs, but I look to real world experience much more. I think that the certs would be a lot better if the people had an actual lab test like the CCIE.

The RHCE and RHCT also have labs. I looked into them but I had a terrible experience with the online training I got from RedHat and got a refund so I think I am going to go with Linux+ instead, it more accurately reflects my limited Linux experience so far. I got a CCNP a couple months ago and just finished the Pix Firewall Specialist. I am working on the rest of the CCSP now and probably going to get a Security+ since compared to the SECUR exam its easy and I get a discount.

CISSP, CISM, CISA, etc.
Cisco certs are always a plus as well.

I've gained a great deal of additional business by simply mentioning that my techs are MCP with several finishing up A+ and NET+ certs. Never been an issue as far as billable rates, but the competition in Northern VA is tough & people are willing to pay whatever they need to in order to get a good tech...
...which raises a question:
will FACG be providing a section in our profiles for our per hour rates or rates per job type? anything like this? anyone want to provide feedback as to what kind of rates they charge in their locale? we can all work together to ensure that each tech gets his fair share & make sure FACG brings in some serious capital.
